German Apple Cake

Ingredients
  

  • 2 Eggs
  • 2 cups Flour
  • 2 cups Sugar
  • 2 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 cup Oil
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • 1/2 cup Chopped Pecans
  • 4 cups Peeled, Chopped Apples
  • 1/2-1 cup Rasins (Optional)

German Apple Cake Glaze Option # 1

  • 1/4 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/4 cup White Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla

Caramel Apple Glaze Option # 2 For German Apple Cake

  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Apple Cider or Apple Juice
  • 1 tbsp Cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla

Instructions
 

  • Mix all together with a big spoon and spread into a greased and floured 13x9 pan.  Bake at 350º for 45 – 60 minutes or until done in center.

German Apple Cake Glaze Option # 1

  • In saucepan cook sugars, cornstarch and water over medium heat. Stir constantly until mixture turns clear and thickens.  Add butter and vanilla and stir until butter is melted.  Pour hot sauce over warm cake. 

Caramel Apple Glaze Option # 2 For German Apple Cake

  • In saucepan cook sugar, cornstarch and Apple Cider over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture turns clear and thickens.  Add butter and vanilla and stir until butter is melted. Pour hot sauce over warm cake.
